Default New rod time

This little fish blew up my Bucoo

Done it on the hook set. Placing a call to Falcon
in the morning. Maybe I'll get lucky.

That sucks! Kind of seems like an odd place for it to break. Too much load will cause a failure at the base of the rod but normally above the reel seat, I would think. Hopefully they'll send you a new one.

I contacted Falcon about my broken Bucoo. I send it to them, they determine if it was defective (they replace it) or my fault (about 1/2 price for a new rod). And I pay shipping both ways.

I can see where this is going.

Usually if it is your fault, you damaged the rod near the tip by stepping on it or hitting against something.

Obviously this is not the case, the butt of the rod broke. If they dont say it was there fault, I would argue and raise hell.

That sucks, it's one thing if it's a $400 rod but by the time you pay shipping both ways and partial on a new one, you might as well save yourself the time and trouble and just buy a new one.

Unusual place for a blank failure. I agree with the above, stick a pistol grip on it and keep on using it. Good luck with Falcon on warranty replacement.

Hope it's a manufacture defect because that is a very odd place for a break, unless there are some young uns around who might have "accidentally" done to it like jump up and down on it thinking it was a diving board.

Hope they take care of you.

Maybe it was the way the hook was set. Looks like the butt was jammed into your abdomen and when you set the hook, the torque was too much for the blank. Maybe you're just too powerful. LOL

Ron, that really sucks. But if you're going to ship it back, see if they'll let you cut the rest of the rod into a few pieces and it'll really cut down on shipping since it won't be in a 6-7' tube.

I agree with everyone else. Unusual place for a break.

If you lay a wooden yardstick on a desk with 1 foot hanging off the end then lay a single sheet of newspaper flat (with all the air pressed out) down over the yardstick and desk with the same 1 foot sticking out, then hit the end of the yardstick real hard downward with your fist, the stick will break but the newspaper sheet will keep the other two feet pressed against the desk. (dang that's a long sentence). Hard to believe until you see/do it. So Daves suggestion that you might have had the butt stuck so far into your "abdomen" on the hookset isn't as far fetched as it may sound.

Well now, there you go. That does make sense. I think they'll give you a new one.
