Default Blame this one on Ken!

Do to Ken's "whats this thread" I was curious,

What was your very first car or truck?
For those who are waiting yet to get thier first vehicle, what do you hope it to be?

My first vehicle was a '63' Ford Falcon with 3 on the tree.
For those who don't know what three on the tree is, it was manual transmission setup that had unsynchrinized gears. You had to be at a complete stand still to get in first gear. The stick was on the streering column and the first gear was so low as soon as you got any RPMs in first you imediately shifted to second. Every stop sign or light you had to drop in first to get going again. And by the time you would make it through the first 'cross walk' you were already shifting to second.
Paid $75 dollars for it!....Man, the good old days......! (I don't have a single fishing rod under a $100 and ya, most alot more). I drove it for 2 years and replaced an alternater, thats it. But it's neat to look back!

http://www.lemonfree.com/car/Ford-Fa...02118358258483 Needless to say mine wasn't...quite this nice. Had the V'8 though and wieghed a ton. Thing was a tank! Winters I'd get snow plowed in and while everyone else was digging thier cars out....I'd hope in and drive right out.
http://www.lemonfree.com/car/Ford-Fa...72015066458750 ...imagine green color, and your looking at Joe's first car.

So lets hear your first vehicle stories, I know there will be some dandy stories on this subject.

My 1st car was a 68 Chevy Impala and my girlfriend at the time (my wife now) had a 66 VW. Got a real education in those 2 cars.

If I tell you, I don't wanna hear any "wet behind the ears" comments, ok? I'm not that young, you're just THAT OLD....

1994 Mazda B-4000 4x4 extended cab. Thought it was a good truck when I got it, ended up needing a transmission rebuild at about 150,000 miles, and it wasn't worth sinking the money into it. Sold it to the owner of the transmission shop that diagnosed it. Leather seats, power everything....I miss that truck.

Well then why don't ya change your "handle" to Mississippiadolesent then?

Mine (UGG!!) was purchased by my dad for me after High School (1967) so I could GET TO WORK. I had no say in the matter and I absolutely hated the car, but it got me to work so I earned some money to get rid of it in six months for something more my "style". Oh, it was a '64 Chevy BelAir, 4 door, 6 cyl, 3 on-the-tree, old man beige. UGG!! x 2. Oh, the surprise was I had to pay my dad back for that ugly beast, I resisted (to no avail) because I didn't have a say in it. Six months later, I traded it for MY "first" car - '66 Chevelle, 327 ci, 4-speed, coupe in RED. Dad wasn't real happy with my choice, but mom loved driving it. Dad watched her take off the first time I let her behind the wheel - yeah, she laid rubber.

My first vehicle was a 1994 Ford Ranger. I drove the wheels off that thing, it was a great little truck.

My first was a 77 Ford Granada in piss gold. I cut more donuts than Duncan could sell in a day with it. I couldn't tear it up and believe me, I tried.

My first was a '64 ford fairlane with 4 doors. Friends of my parents gave it to me. It was an ok car but haven't owned another ford since. My dad worked for GM so I am a Chevy man. First car I bought was a '64 Impala SS convertible. Bought that from a co-workers dad. Paid three hundred for it. I've had 5 convertibles and wish I had one now. Great drive in cars. Yep I'm just that old.

1984 GMC 1/2 4X4. Loved the 350 V8. Hated the gas mileage Next was a 1991 F150 with the 302 in it. Would have rather had the 300 6 cyl, though.

My first car was a 78 Camaro with a 305 in it. Air shocks in the back. I was buying it on time from a guy I worked with. I made one payment. 2 weeks after buying it, it spun a bearing. I drove it to the guy's house, left it in his driveway, walked home, and never looked back.

I've been wary of cars ever since.

I know this isn't a car or truck but it was the first thing I bought when I turned 16 in oct 1972. Brand new 1972 CB350. Paid $600 cash with money I'd been saving since I started stacking Hay every summer since I was 14.

First truck was a 69 Chev stepside a couple of years later. I think the only car I've ever owned was a 1972 MG Midget I bought on impulse during college.(just to pull some p*ss)

Is there a better reason to buy a car when you're young?

The impulse thing or the leg pulling thing? Both And trust me at that age my "skin" was so tight I couldn't even blink. The problem was when a cute young co-ed pulled my cork under...that tiny little car limited my options to either gymnasts or contortionists.

My first car, bought for me by my parents as a reward and sixteenth birthday present was a '85 VW Jetta GLI(whole 100 hp). Totaled three months later on my way to school. Two years later, I managed to work and scrounge up enough money to buy my, or what I consider to be, first car, a '85 CJ 7. Went through college with it, but sold it for a '84 Subaru GL wagon, so I could go on tour. Boy, good times, but I really miss that Jeep.

It is somewhat odd that this topic came up when it did, as I am going out to take a second, final look at at 65 Impala Convertible after work this evening. It is pretty rough, but it could be a sweet car...and the price is right. I may finally have somewhere to drop a 496 big block.

82 toyota 4x4, had a lift kit on it with huge mud grips. The only thing I didn't like about it was the color, yellow. Had alot fun in that truck and this thread has stirred alot of good memories.
