I ran acroose this...
...while researching something else plus it's 59 degrees, I thought I woke up, missed the 'fall feeding frenzy' and was smack into hard water season.

It's the old "I heard from a friend who had a cousin who knew a..." American Story telling process.
It's similar to a 'caption this' picture. Funny all the same. To me anyways.

It's a great story of how a story gets exaggerated all across the web...funny original story though. Damn Starlings!

I love starlings. It always bothers me when I see flocks of them poisoned because they have gotten to be pests. They are very smart (like parrots almost), and can even talk when human-raised. They're not "classically" pretty, but the spots on their wings are kind of cool.

You were correct when you stated they are a pest, and they exert a lot of pressure on other bird species to survive. I personally detest them during migration when thousands of them decend on our bird feeders and their droppings cover my car, and everything else outdoors to the extent of being a health hazzard. I have no issues with methods used to control their numbers, not talking eradication just control. |

^^^^^Preferably eradication. As an invasive species, why not? Individually, I bet they are "cool" birds, I like most Black birds, ravens, crows, grackles, red wing, mag pies,(they're "smart", or clever birds), but this little English invader...

I never knew they weren't native. It's such a shame they cause so many problems. I wonder why they haven't tried to get rid of them? IF they were tasty, like the passenger pigeon, it would have happened a long time ago. Maybe if we have another great depression, people will resort to eating starlings.

They eat sparrows(whole) in the rest of the world, why not starlings.
