Default Observations while on the road

Got a chance to make a 450 mile trek from VA through NC to SC earlier this week. On the way down I made a few observations and then a few more on the way back. The way back was a slightly different route but added to the fun.

SC
1) You cross the boarder from NC and all of a sudden there are peaches sold everywhere. They don't grow them in NC??? And I thought Georgia was the peach state?? Plus there's a giant peach (or butt....depending on how you look at it) just off of 85 at the boarder.

2) The Greenville area is called the upstate and not the north west.

3) You can get some great fireworks for cheap and not the wimpy ones that most states allow you to have if they let you have any.

4) There must be 100 billboards per exit. Very trashy looking if you ask me.

5) Waffle house is replaced by Mr. Waffle. Same buildings and colors but different name. Probably same food. Never stopped to find out.

6) Two of the coolest names that I saw were Cowpen, SC, yes an actual town, and Thicketty Creek, yes an actual area called Thicketty.

NC
1) Funniest thing I saw were "No Parking" signs on the highways around 100 miles from Charlotte, NC. We're not talking little signs but the big ones that are typically used to give you information about traffic conditions. I guess someone was worried about car bombs during the DNC??? Or else they have a big issue with people just parking their cars on the sides of the highways.

2) Cracker Barrel is the number one roadside restaurant. Cook Out is second. Biscuitville probably comes in third.

3) "Strange things are afoot at the Circle K".....refills are $.52 for 44oz drinks.

4) Lake Norman is huge!!!! I mean HUGE. I crossed a couple creeks and they were big. The main lake must be a monster. But I couldn't find a tackle store.

Pics would probably help but I'm having difficulty getting them online. Sorry.
