Default Choke Canyon

We did pretty well at Choke this past Monday and Tuesday. The guests from out of town had a good time and had a good couple of days of fishing. If I managed to do this right, there will be a picture of one of the Lubbock guys who had a great first day in the tournament. The 2 fish were 7.54 and 5.68. He had three others for a good limit.

Most of the fish from all teams and on both days were caught in about 15 feet on the edge of the grass, although one team reported that all of their fish were caught in less than 10 inches of water. Four Fingers is heavy with grass and it took a 1 1/2 jig to get through the mat. We had several catfish caught on jigs in Four Fingers.

The teams that did the best on day 2 fished up by the 99 bridge. One team had 10 good fish that they caught on Sweet Beavers on a 100 yard stretch of bank. They spent the whole day in that area.

Looks like y'all had a good time. Nice fish!

We hit Canyon for a couple of hours this evening and managed a couple of dinks dodging ski boats and about 5 big cabin cruisers tear-a**ing around the lake racing.

We are hitting choke again this Saturday through sunday fishing through the night. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated on night time bass fishin' tactics. We will also be fishing Sat evening and Sunday morning. Are the bass on the banks or on the edge of the grasslines in deeper water? Thanks for any help.

Well it is Saturday night, so my guess is that I am a bit late responding. Sorry about that. We found during the day that the fish were in about 15 feet on the outside edges of the grass. Not sure about how it will be at night.

We actually did some damage with black colarado spinners last night/25Jun2005. We caught about 12 between 4 o'clock and 8 o'clock saturday evening inside the coves up from the 99 ramp. No size to em though, alot of two pounders. We tried some night fishing but the fish were not biting on anything after 9 oclock or so. We tried some catfishing but only caught four small ones. Where is a good place to tear into some cats at choke?

Rick, I have never fished for cats on Choke, but I'd bet you can get some answers here:
