Arrow A Special Thanks and Forum Upgrades Coming...

Dear Friends,

I wanted to post and share with everyone two things...

First, I want to share and express my sincere thanks and gratitude for your loyal fellowship and support here at the BassFishin.Com Forums. We have an incredible family here. I am always in awe of the kindness and generosity that comes from our members, as fishermen, and as friends. I am in debt to the many members that call our forum "home" that have been integral in making it what it is today. I am very proud.

Secondly, as many of you are aware, we have had problems with spam bots registering and posting on the site. This has been a problem for awhile and I have taken many steps to slow the flood of posts made by these bots. However, they continue to get by all preventative measures and still are flooding the boards.

I am committed to putting a stop to this, and will do everything I can to ensure the quality of our forum is maintained, and that we continue to improve and grow together successfully.

A recent conversation with John (aka. bamabassman) has brought to light that there is potential for getting help with moderation, to help prevent spam bots from gaining access to the forums. I think this is a great idea and I know this is an option with the forum software, but will look into how exactly to implement it, since I have not done it before.

So here is what's going to happen...
  1. Going to update the forums to STOP spam registrations
  2. Going to implement moderators to help maintain integrity of forums
  3. Kevin (me) will regularly monitor the boards
  4. We will delete all existing spam accounts and posts
  5. Clean up "Who's online" to not show spam bots

All the above changes are going to be my first priority this week, and I promise to fix everything. We have an incredible group of people here, and I refuse to let anything stand in the way of us being able to talk and chat freely without problems. I want to do my part and make that happen.

I am in a debt of gratitude to many members on the site, with special thanks to bamabassman (John) for staying in touch with me and always looking out for the members.

Good days are ahead. We have a new fishing season upon us, and it is my goal to bring a new sense of fun and enjoyment to the forums.

Stay tuned for these updates and upgrades. I will be sure to post back as things progress.

Thank you to everyone again for your loyal support and fellowship.

Take care,
Kevin

first of all, THANK YOU KEVIN.

now gang. i personally talked ot kevin. and we WILL get things back to normal. now jsut like most of oyu, kevin has a full time job too. so let's give this a shot before everyone jsut leaves ok? you are my BORTHERS and SISTERS here. this is not only kevins site, but OUR site as well. we can beat these "bots". now, kevin told me that he is willing to have LIVE MONITORS, so that wehn this is all said and done, SOMEONE will ok a new member before they even show up ont he bottom.

so, i am asking for volinteers. now oyu MUST have some knowledge of computers and willing to COMMIT to certain time frames. at the present time, for reasons ya'll already know...i can't at this time. but if taught, i am willing to learn and would LOVE TO BE A MONITOR. so think aobu tit while kevin gets this in order and we'll help this site go back to where it was and even make it more awesum!

no one owes more to the people here than i do in my opion. this is why iam willing to help. you folks here mean so much to lisa and i that i can't EVER begin to tell oyu. or show you. so this is jsut ONE way i can try to repay you for your kindness and support.

now, let's get this rolling (no pun intended for real).

I cannot express how glad I am to see this post by Kevin, and John, your right. We all are busy and Kevin is as well. He cannot be here 24/7. Therefore implimenting monitors is without a doubt the best option to use from here on out. I wish I could do it, however, my lack of computer knowledge and having a computer with serious issues prevents me from doing so. However, when I am able to purchase a new computer and gain the knowledge, I would love to volunteer. I do know there are members here who are quite capable, and I hope the response for monitors is answered possitively.
Kevin, I want you to know I love this website and the wonderful members who have become as family here. I've been a member for many years now and want you to know I am here to help in any way that I can. Should you feel the need to talk to me, please feel free to get ahold of me. The steps you are taking is going to be very helpful not only to the site, but to yourself as well. Having monitors to keep an eye on things will be a big help. And logging on and seeing TRUE members shown as being logged on will be very appreciated! I KNOW you can't be here all the time Kevin, so thankyou for letting us established members help with this. And please, stay in touch. This is the best fishing website on the web in my opinion, and I want to be sure we keep it that way!

I appreciate Kevin taking the time to come on here and let us know what is going on. With all the stuff Britney and I have going on I can understand being stretched on time and all that. I hope that he gets this mess cleaned up and makes himself more accessible for those times when we need him to help with something. I really like this site, and I have made so many friends here. If things get better I will hang around, if not we all have a great place to start over but the best part is we wouldn't really be starting over because we already know all the members.

Well, I just sent bama a pm. I got some experience building websites and minor experience with forums. I believe you saw the website I had Kevin. I got a laptop and I have a bit of time through out my days. So if you need and can use me I can give some time.

I don't think anyone really wants to leave this site. This is "home" for most of us. I've met some really great people here and made some really good friends. All any of us want is for things to get back to normal.

Things have been getting out of control lately though. I think appointing a moderator or 2 will go a long way toward keeping the undesirables out. I am more than happy to volunteer to help out with this. I am on the site every day and can get online during the day at work. I'm sure there are several others who would be willing to take on the responsibility as well.

Good news and just about in the "nick of time". It has been a very frustrating month with the spammers and lack of moderation on this site. Appointing moderators is something a few have suggested previously and I AM HAPPY TO HEAR IT SHALL BE IMPLEMENTED. That and a clean up of SPAM accounts will go a huge way in returning this website to the way it was when I first joined here 3 years ago (or so). It's been a tought few months, but now that John ('bama) has FINALLY learned how to post a picture, we know miracles can happen. THANKS KEVIN, very glad to see you still have interest and will work with us to get us back on track.

That's great Kevin. I know that there are multiple members that have been here a long time that would be good, impartial moderators on your behalf. Jrob has mentioned this many times (among others) and I think he would be good at it.

Thank you Kevin, for Bassfishin.Com!

And Kevin, I would like to extend my humble and sincere invitation for you, to this years Zookerfest at Dale Hollow this May 12th through the 18th.

If you don't mind rooming with some of us, I'm sure there will be a spare bedroom for you in one of our reserved cabins. So there would be no need to reserve a cabin.. unless you want to, that is.

Dale Hollow is an amazing lake!

-Mark

Glad to hear this Kevin. Looking forward to seeing what you have planned!

Would registering the forum with Tapatalk be one of those things?

Kevin uses highly efficient cyborg worker drones to monitor the forums. They're kind of like a Terminator, but meaner.

Ive always thought that Orson Wells since he starred in it produced and directed took away some of the talent of Joseph Cotten, sort of forgotten in that movie.
Considered a classic all due to the first statement ,now who can recall any other actor in it?
