Something I've been wondering(yeah I know I need to fish more) Â*Are Bass immune to the venom of snakes. Â*They eat them a lot, just didn't know if the snake gets the last laugh so to speak ??? Â*If anyone knows the answer I would appreciate it. Â*

LIZ,
Â* Â* You been spending too much time in the little house out behind the house and meditating too much! Â* Â* I figure the bass comes up from below the bass and cruntches the snakes head before he can strike. Snake venom is not poison if injested thru the stomach and intestinal tract, only into the bloodstream. Rattlesnake venom can be fried and eaten like egg whites. (I knew I went to survival school for a good reason. Yummy!)Â* JackL |

One other thing to consider is that of all the snakes that bass will encounter, only a very small portion of them will be poisonous. Most of the snakes around any given body of water will be non-venomous, thereby reducing the chances of a bass being bitten in the first place.

JackL, I would like to forget about all of the snakes I have eaten while in the army.It s a wonder we didn't get bit while trying to kill it to eat it.Nitro don't be foolrd by the myth, venomous snakes can swim as well as any other non venomous snake.Especially when they're about to become a main course on the menu. They were alot easier to catch than tree lizards. ;D P N J

ya but you have to think, there arnt alot of venomous snakes, and some of them arnt water snakes. a bass would more then likely come across a common water snake in his life then a venomous water snake.

I didn't mean to say that venomous snakes can't swim. Maybe I didn't explain that right. I just meant that percentage-wise, non-venomous snakes out number venomous ones by a lot. All snakes can swim, most of them very well. |
