Sorry for the late response, and thanks for your service. Always glad to see a serviceman around, even if it's a Air Force guy JK(I'm ex-Army) Anyway the weather last week, and until today has been super hot for us. Been in the mid nineties or higher everyday, with little rain latley. The water levels are down on most places, and the water temps are high, even the Ohio river was 85 degrees(that's pretty warm for it). Anyway the weather is changing tommorrow for some cooler temps, which will hopefully bring the bite back. The fish have been tight to cover. I would think your best bet is low light conditions, early morning, and evenings. I've caught some nice Bass out of Eagle creek the last couple of years, just better to get to them in a boat, pretty tough from shore. Find some smaller ponds and they should also be decent. If low pressured, you can catch a lot in a short time, and some nice fish come out of smaller ponds. Hope some of this helps. I live in Mooresville, IN and have been fishing the Ohio river mostly lately(tourneys), and a private coal pit in SW Indiana, so I haven't been out to anything local lately.

Thanks, I hope to hit some small ponds near the house (near Shelbyville). I may also hit Blue River or Sugar Creek. So hopefully I can get into some fish there.

I was fishing in Northern Indiana last weekend at my dad's house. There is a very small pond out back. Saturday I was nailing bass left and right once I found that they liked these blue fleck power bait worms. Nothing else was working. I had 7 bass ranging from 15" to 20.5" on Saturday in 6 hours and 2 fish on Sunday in the high heat in an hour.

We live just east of ya and what lizards said is about the way it is here to.
They have been tight to cover and about 5 feet off the bank here, all they want here is the worm, I have been getting them on redshad and tequilla sunrise. We are getting ready to go out in 15 minutes or so, but this time I am starting out with a jig and crawdude trailer, Denny wants a lesson in jig fishing and I am glad to oblige For some reason I have yet to get a fish on that Crawdude from Wave , its the sweet potatoe color and I know its just a matter of time,, I usually use a black and blue power craw or Gene Larew black n blue, or green an orange pinchers..it just rained, temp droped 25 degrees, fishing at 70 degrees will be lots better than 90 degrees ![]() |

I fish Big Blue and Sugar Creek regularly for smallmouth. If given the option, I would choose Big Blue every time. Anyway, good luck wherever you choose to wet a line.
BTW< Little Blue isn't bad either......... |
