Here's a bass I caught a few years ago (I don't wear glasses anymore) in one of the ponds at a place I call "Paradise". There are 9 old gravel pit ponds there that range from 4-10 acres in size. This bass weighed 6lbs. 9oz. I caught it on a jig. Most of my big fish are caught on spinnerbaits and jigs. My best fish was 8lbs+ (25" long) and I caught it on a Storm Chug Bug right at dark. That was in one of the ponds too. I also deer hunt the property and shot my largest buck ever there last Fall. It had 17pts.

My scales weigh a little light I think. It could have gone close to 7lbs. but not 8. The buck was a typical 10pt with stikers all around the bases and brows and 1 on the left g-2. Here's a picture of it.

I get it from the taxidermist next Wed. I'll score it then. It may go 150". I'm taking it to the VA deer show next weekend and get an official score.

Hey BassAddict, I used to live in Richmond. Chesterfield County to be exact. Where is that pond? I used to go fish Lake Anna and the James River alot, but that hole doesn't look familiar.

Nice bass! I wish they got that fat up here, they might but I can't find em. I like small ponds the best myself. Also are those power lines running into the water behind you?

nice buck i would guess 135, 150 at most. if it had more mass it would be pretty high but the length of the antlers is what your's will get most pts from

Thanks guys!
Lizardsrule, I didn't weigh the buck but it wasn't a big bodied deer. I would guess he would have dressed at about 140lbs. InEccess, I live near Mechanicsville on the Hanover/New Kent line. The ponds are located near Bottoms Bridge along the Chicahomany River. In Henrico Co. near New Kent. Bender, Yea... those are powerlines in the water. That's the secret to making those fish big!! LOL Actually those lines are dead. No electro fishing there! LOL However... I have caught back-to-back 5+lbers on those lines before! Mike, The buck lacks spread. He's only about 18" inside. He may gross 150". It depends on if they count the left g-4 as 1". If not then he will probably go low140's gross. I'll now in a week. BassPro, Let me know when your headed to VA. Thanks again. I'll post some more pics from "Paradise" later. Eric |
