Default Keeping a Bass as a pet?

The other day I landed a small bass in the shallows that was pretty beat up. Needless to say he is back here in my room in a small 10 gallon tank. With the huge loss of the bass hatchlings this spring (due to some "weird weather" and "disease" that Fish and Game did not further elaborate on) I figured I'd save a fish. Haha yes, I saved one fish but hey if this fish lives long enough to spawn it will be worth it. Anyway, he is doing quite nicely but seems to eat a lot.

By a lot I mean my 3.5" bass will consume about 10 of these little zebra guppies I buy at the pet store in one day. That makes his belly a bit big... but give it a day and he'll look anorexic. But if I buy the other feeder gold fish, he won't eat them because they are too big. Nor will he eat worms I drop in there. I'm out of ideas.

So do you guys have any idea what I could feed him? These 22 cent guppies will start adding up. Now in the wild there are other small fish, crawdads, bugs, and amphibians to be eaten right? Well not so much here at the petstore. I want to keep him around until spring then release him and hopefully he won't be a pansy and will survive. Assuming he is all healed up cause right now there are some pretty deep gashes and holes in him with some torn up fins.

Oh yeah my roommate is not so fond of me buying some crickets and having them around to try and feed him. You know incase they get loose and terrorize our apartment.
