For those who use flouro's a lot I would like some input as to what Brand you like the best, and why. I fished lake Erie which has a lot of mussels that really tore up the braided line pretty quickly. I had a couple of rods already rigged with flouro leaders(Vanish 20lb) that seems to take the sharpness of the mussels better. I have another tourney there, so I would like to see some opinons, since I rarely ever use it, but have obviously found a situation that it excells in.

stick with the vanish this stuff is awsome.this is practily all i use(and fireline).
but i mean this stuff is the bomb, you should use it more unless fishing a buzzbait. i never fished lake erie but if it has a lot of weeds use fireline, it destroys cover so you rarely get hung up

Lizards, I never gave it a thought that you guys don't have zebra mussels. The lakes here are badly infested with them here.Straight Fluorocarbon will cut real easy here because it has low stretch and it sinks like a rock easily snagging the razor sharp zebra mussels unless your vertical jigging for smallmouths I wouldn't reccomend real flourocarbon line. I use a Yo zuri Hybrid line. Its a combination of Nylon/fluorocarbon coating. It still has real low stretch, but doesn't sink as true fluorcarbon lines do and it stands up better against the zebra mussels. My freinds use P-Line fluoroclear line which is the same type mono coated with fluorocarbon for bottom fishing. We use true fluorocarbon line for senkos/flukes and suspending jerkbaits.I use Seaguar carbon pro line and they use Berkely vanish transition line. none of us use anything under 12 lb test, usually 14-17lb test line.I hope this helps,The weight means alot here, use just enough weight, too much weight and you will be using alot of them retying often. I use 1/8, 1/4 3/8 oz. leadhead jigs with a 2/0 or bigger hook alot here fishing the Ugly otter /sweetbeaver type baits for smallmouths.

I now use fluorocarbon on most of my rods now and I used to spool vanish on all of my rods but the vanish line splinters like wood when it rubs against rocks or wood cover. But now I use P-Line 100% Fluorocarbon line (not Fluoroclear) and I love this stuff because it is very abrasion resistant. To teel how abrasion resistant it is, I fish tourneys and propbably average at least 3-4 fishing trips a week sometimes more. I recently respooled all of my reels and the old Fluorocarbon line had been on the reel for around 5-6 months. I know without a doubt this is the strongest fluorocarbon I have ever used. It is not cheap (16-21$ per 250yds.) but worth it.

I had a friend recommend Seguar Carbon Pro and have been very pleased with the results, but I havent used it up against zebra mussels.

I use the XPS, it's very strong and abrasive resistant.

I second the Yo Zuri Hybrid thats what we use out deep sea on our bottom poles. Stuff is tough as a rock. We use thirty but thats a bit heavy for that neck of the woods when I fish for bass.

evr since ive been using vanish ive been catching more fish,i like to use on tikis so it sinks easily, when in the sun your line will turn gold(or blue depending on the one you get)but this wont help you catch more fish lol
