windy fishing

My freind and I went out on Keuka lake this morning . The weather stations were calling for 20-35 MPH winds and I believe they were right for once. We caught alot of fish even though the drift sock slowed us down we were still drifting about 5 MPH. I used a Mc Guinness 1/2oz. Gold trap spinnerbait while Doug opted for a 3/4oz. strike king spinnerbait.we caught dozens of smallmouth, largemouth bass before having to get off the lake due to low battery power. We took on alot of waves over the boat so the bilge pump was running alot and the trolling motor was on constantly to hold the boat in position. The 3-4 foot white caps made it impossible to take advantage of getting to the fishing spots far away from the launch.This was the first real good day of fishing on this lake for me this year, I have struggled to boat a limit of keepers on this lake this year the few times I have fished it. The Mc Guinness spinnerbait is expensive in my opinion , about $8.00, but I will buy alot more, next time I go to Bass pro shop. The hook is fastened to a steel cable which flexes when a fish is hooked. I thought it was another gimmick, but I believe it helps,It was a difficult to unhook the fish sometimes because the hook does not open the hole any bigger when bringing the fish to the boat.I think the components into the spinnerbait are high quality,making it a another lure to stay in my tackle box.
