o.k.,we can't stop them from raising gas prices.but we can stop buying goods at the convience store portion of the gas station.years ago gas stations fixed cars.when it became unprofitable to fix them because they couldn't keep up with technology they became convience store and not repair shops.repairs didn't make enough money so they went out of bussiness.well if the store doesn't sell anything it will hit them in the pocket real bad.then they will have to get the suppliers to lower the price and they will have to stop price gouging.don't buy that 6 pack or loaf of bread or bag of chips or ciggarettes.hit them where they are hitting us!!! pass this on to everybody you know!!!if enough people do it it will work!!!

I get 40+ MPG with my diesel so it is not as much of concern but I did find that smokes were $4.29 a pack at CVS and I had been paying $5.50 at the gas station and $5.95 at the liquor store. It will pay off to avoid buying stuff at the gas stations.
Edit: then the stupid monkey hit me and I shelled out $50 for more top water stuff, some Kreatures, and hooks. Last edited by Bender; 09-01-05 at 09:37 PM. |

well as i do agree that gas prices are really outrageous these days..i cannot not agree with hurting the sales profits of another man just tryin to earn his keep.. gas prices are going to increase no matter what..its just like a snickers bar that used to cost a nickle...its the way of the economy..we are based on supply and demand.. if you stop buying from a local store its only gonna hurt the owner not the big corps. that produce the oil, such as exxon mobile, halliburton, or opec.. the only way to get to them is to limit your purchase of their gas... and that would take millions of people to do... its not like the old days...we as a nation have become dependent upon gas, deisiel and oil... so pretty much all we can hope for is a serious change in the enconomy and a serious change of heart from the large company owners.... just my 2 cents worth....

So many people have a problem with the concept of basic economics, but they have an even larger problem with this concept:
ITS NOBODYS FAULT. Thats right, there is no boogie man who is raising gas prices. Yall can stick it to the gas station owners all you want, but the reason they have raised prices is cause the wholesale price of gas is at 2.60 something. So, then, go up the chain. Blame the oil companies. But truthfully, they are just charging what the market dictates via supply and demand. If they charge less than the market dictates then they lose money and capital for more drilling and technology, thus they will cease to exist in a few short years. The cold hard fact is you have millions of new car owners in china and to an extent india. Those cars use gas, the same gas that we use. The more gas they use, the less there is, the more its worth, the higher the price. Sorry. The economy will have to adjust, as I'm sure it will. The only thing that we can do as a country to impact this is tap any oil reserves that are on our soil, and increase refinery capacity - but the money and the political redtape must be right for that to happen. Still, the days of 1.20 a gallon are over in the US.
