as we were in eastern ga. with the cane bearing down upon us. we chosse to relocate to eastern nc coastal swamps for the rest of the week. good choice.. we drove through 50+mph winds and rain that had us driving at 45-50 mph on I-95 for a while. we got up here to the gator river hunt club head quarters. it was rainning lightly we decieded to go duck hunting as we sat on the fireing line ankle deep in the famed gator river. getting a pair of woody's and a single blue bill. we were walking back to the trucks along a road that was all sand and a bit gooey. the comment was made "there aint no cotten mouths in nc" about 100 yards farther down the road -walking 5 abreast- a large snake striked at my calf hitting the buckle/strap on my red head knee boots-after swating at the snake and removing it from the boot with my gun butt. wormy and doc put 2 into it at point blank range. i looked at shag nasty and asked "just what do you think that snake was ?" answer upon some one producing a light showed a 6 1/2 foot water moccsin.

though i am not afraid of snakes. that one got the adrenalimne flowing for sure...i live a charmed life for sure.as the snake never penatrated the boot wall but put 2 holes through the strap near the buckle.. i did verably abuse the swamp in general even give a course in 4 letter words. i WILL be adding to my considerable gear pile a set of snake proff chaps for sure..

yeah man no ip means i can't do a lot of stuff like post pic's -uploads and down loads are very exspensive about $10 each..

ehhh nearly getting snake bit will not stop me from hunting this area.. snakes are common and plentyfull here -love how they hang down from trees over hanging the canels...

ahhh no rain this am seen a doe but am very picky on this lease..

Have fun, drop a nice one. Best investment ever was my 18" Rocky snake boots. Been tested twice, still just scares the piss out of ya when they hit ya.

lol laugh cubscout...laugh. odds of a normal man living through a cotten mouth/water moccisin bite is 1 in 10 based on a 240 pound man and time it takes to reach the hospital..in the swamps -where this took place- you are 1 hour fly low speed to a hospital...
