Great weekend Hunting/Fishing
Well I finally got the owner of the coal pit to give me permission to bow hunt this year. I went down friday about 10 am, looked around for an hour to find a tree to climb with my stand later that day. I found a nice tree, and then went to the coal pit for some fishing. Started fishing about 11:30am till 2:30pm, and caught 13 LM 7 of which were 14"-19" So I then loaded the boat, and went back to set up for the afternoon in th tree. Got up the tree and ready about 3 pm and it was windy about 10-15 mph. I set up my stand so I could watch into the wind, being I smelled like fish, and Yum garlic spray LOL. about 5 pm I spotted 3 does coming up from behind me, and as I watched one came within about 15 yrds of me so I took aim and shot. The doe jumped and all three took off. I looked down to see my arrow sticking in the ground, and couldn't believe I missed So it's starting to get a little towards dusk I decide to call it the day, so I wouldn't have to track in the dark. So I turn around open my pack to get my rope out to lower my bow, and as I drop the rope end I see 3 more does in front of me . So I quit moving around, they eventually came around behind me again, and another doe was about 5 feet from the first one I shot at. So again I aim, and fire, and watch the deer jump, and pause, then it moved of about 20 feet and stopped and was breathing heavy. Then it moved off out of sight as it was getting dark. I climbed down, and went to get flash lights to start tracking. As I was walking back I stopped to retrieve my first arrow, and it was completely coverd in blood, obviously I had went straight through the deer . I also looked over and saw my second arrow stuck in the ground 5 feet away. Well I stopped where the second deer had stopped, and found some blood. So after returning with my spotlight I tried for about an hour to track the deer but had to call it quits till the next morning. Saturday with the help of some friends we found the first deer I shot within 50 yards of the stand, with a lung shot perfectly placed hit the left upper shoulder exited the right lower rib cage We tracked the second one about 1/2 of a mile till it went across some open bean fields and onto another tree line. I obviously bounced off a rib or something. So I found the first one, but not the second. It was my first bow kill, and I got a smaller doe, just what I wanted for the meat. Then I went back fishing sunday for 3 hours, since I forgot to get my tree stand oops, and I caught another 12 fish, 5 of which were 14"-16" It was a great weekend to be hunting and fishing
