I started out with a ambassaber that was similair to that one, it did the job for me.
After having several dif. size and brands of baitcaster I learned I prefer the ones that are tear drop shaped vs. the round, only because I like the way it fit in my hand. As I started to buy more expensive reels, like 100 on up, I noticed more braking features and spool control and options, compared to my first ones that basically only had a few features, but still did the job in getting the line out and reel back in... Once I started spending big bucks on shimano but the switched to Quantum I've owned ambassader bait casters, ABU garcia, Diawa, Shimano, and Quantum, and would recommend any of them.. |

I been fishing with baitcasters now for over 35 years so I have used just about everyone out there. I would have to say the ambassaduer is the workhorse bar none. They get noisy and squeaky and keep on ticking and still perform pretty well. After many years of trying this and trying that I have gotten down to shimano's. I use the cardiff reels (the round ones) the 200 series for the most part unless I am flipping and a person on this board got me to try the castaic and so far it has performed flawlessly. I still bring out the ambassduesrs (The 4600CL4's) when I am using braided line and flipping or pitching into the jungles. They just wont quit working and they can handle the hookset I have. I have a hookset that will rock a 19ft boat.

I've owned may different baitcasters and if you ask my wife, she'll say I have an "addiction" to buying tackle. Can you imagine?
My latest "fix" is a lefty Daiwa Alphas and a Kistler Helium rod. It's an outstanding rig and a joy to fish with. But I have to say for everyday fishing comfort my Abu's are like a well broken in baseball hat. Great price, reliable (upgrade the drag), that unmistakable Abu sound, and you can't beat 'em in casting distance. From the 2601 ciar to the 6500 C3 2 speed, from California trout to Alaskan king salmon, they have yet to let me down.

i have used a lot of reels prefuring quantum's i also have a couple torno's by ammbassador. i dislike round reels for bass fishing -this is a personal choice- also have a left handed bassmaster reel-pfluger trion- which i like pretty well-after alot of practice to get used to it.

i love pflueger trion round size 56 reels.i prefer round reels because of ease of maintenance.i prefer the all aluminum frame and sideplates.i prefer the drag on the pflueger which lets you lock it down almost solid.i prefer that the trion round can handle all the beating i give it and doesn't empty my wallet at $80 a pop.
