Been toying with the idea of giving power pro a try. How well is the knot strength? Does it slip like some of the other spectra lines. If so what knot works well with this line. I like the idea of the 40lb test and I beleive it was 10 or 12 lb diameter.

you won't regret switching to PP...a palomar knot works fine...when i'm fishing in the willow bushes in spring for big bass i put a drop of PSB glue on the knot just because of the full power hookset i use.although i have at times skipped the glue and still never had a problem.i use the 50lb PP.

I use 50lb. as well. 50lb is the same diameter of 12lb mono. I go with the moss color. Good idea to back your reel with 12lb mono and then fill the rest with the PP. I only use a Palomar knot with this type of line. The only drawback IMO is the fact that when fishing a weekend tourney I usually change the line out as braid absorbs water rather well. Good luck!

i use a palomar and 20lbs test w/ 4lbs diameter. i do feel there lbs test is under rated. I do some things to their 20 lbs test that other 20lbs tests just wouldn't be able to handle. I'd say their 20lbs test is closer to a 40 lbs test. its a great line, you'll love it.

I first used it on a spinning reel before I tried baitcasters. I didn't know the palomar knot then. I tied on with an improved clinch knot. They came undone sometimes. Now I only use the palomar. Holds very good IMO.
Bob P.S. A couple more months laser and you'll know if I like those Arrius or not.

I use 30 lb test and a palomar knot.I no longer use Powere pro, I like Tuf-Line XP or P-Line spectra IV braid better, but that is just my personal preference.Power pro worked well for me in case you think there was something wrong with Power pro, I don't want to give you the wrong impression.P N J

Jb, The reason, I switched brands was the way the braid was braided. The second thing I hated was how power pro sounded running through the guides. This is really going to sound stupid but if the braid is so sensitive feel wise, I believe that when the power pro sounds like it does going through your guides as your jig is free falling, its transmitting the sound you hear into the water colum as the lure drops to the bottom. I kind of like the idea of having as quiet of a line as I can get for flipping jigs.Same thing with lowering your rod tip as the jig is entering the water surface for a quieter lure entry. It might not matter every day , but when the times comes where it may be a factor, I don't want to be the one not catching the fish. The Tuf-Line Xp is a great flipping line, but doesn't cast real well, therefore I use P-Line spectra IV braid for lures I might need to pitch or cast to at great distances from the boat. The reason I chose P-Line is it doesn't seem as limp as the other brands. I don't like the limper line while casting lures because it seems to easily wrap around your rod tip.For most of you who have fished braid have had this happen. The stiffer P-Line is less likely to wrap around the rod tip, yet it casts well and it seems to keep its color better than any other braided line I have used. Now you know why I use what I use,it would be easier if I didn't think about such crap and just fish what initially bought.

Great input PNJ. And dont feel like the lone ranger but the noise factor has gone through my mind as well. Some of the braids sound awful when casting and/or retreiving and being a pitcher/flipper I as well at times want the quietest presentation I can make. So you fel that P-line is quieter. Will take your advise and keep right on using the line. No sense in buying more when I know it works and why waste the money experimenting when someone else has done the work.

do you guys use a mono or floro leader or just tie straight braid to your lures? Also Rodman Florida Sportsman did a test a couple of months ago on different braids and when they actually broke. Most of the braids were 2.5 to 3x stronger than what it is said. Fireline was the most underrated.

Laser, Ive been using 50 lb Powerpro for several years and have been very happy with it.
I never even pay attention to the sound going through the guides. bk, try a Trilene knot-improved version of the cinch knot: http://www.fish4fun.com/TrileneKnot.htm While I prefer to use a palomar you are right on some big baits with a lot of hooks-it can be a pain to tie. In those situations I use the Trilene knot.
