Hey guys,
Last summer I bought a bottom line fishin buddy fish finder. Its a very basic fish finder that hooks onto the boat. Do yall have any tips on how to use these to find fish hot spots? I was wondering as well, when you spot the fish on the screen, do you circle around and fish it or do you just start fishing in that spot? Thanks!

fdc, I don't use mine to find fish as such. Rather I use it to find the structure the fish relate to-humps, dropoffs, ledges, creek channels, etc. The only time I use it to actively chart fish is when I find balls of shad-they look like this:
![]() Find that and you will find active fish. Here is a link to an article about using jigging spoons, but the depthfinder info is worth a look.

Just like Reb, I don't really look for fish, I look for structure changes, and bottom changes. If you try to catch everyfish you see, you'll be wasting a lot of time, and even if it doesn't show fish it doesn't mean they aren't there. Most of the fish you see are gonna be suspended, so that's a whole bunch of different problems.
