I own several of them, honestly they're getting to be the only bass rod I use. I absolutely love them. Like you guys said, they're extremely light while having a good backbone, but another thing I've noticed are that they're extremely durable!!! I've dropped mine on rocks, accidentally pushed it up into a cieling fan, set the hook and had jigs come up and smack them, just about everything. I've put a bunch of bumps and nicks in my rod and it still works like new. I would suggest St. Croixs to anybody who is looking to be a nicer quality rod.
Oh yeah, if anybody wants to buy them, they're on clearance at most Dick's sporting goods and Gander Mountain stores right now....I just picked up a 7ft. Medium action spinning rod....regular 90 I got it for 70 plus that spend 50 dollar get 10 dollars off deal they have. A brand new Premier St. Croix for 60 bucks......not too bad of a deal. |

I picked up the new St Croix today at Gander MT. It wasn't the blue one that was new last year but the old color. It felt really light. They did't have a price on it. The fishing dept was all messed up. They are redoing all the displays. I really liked the feel of it. I was in a hurry so I couldn't ask anyone the price. I will go back and check them out.

I've started using the St.Croix Crankbait rods. The less expensive premier series composite rods. I haven't found anything I like as well except one speacific rod for throwing very small light cranks. Will stick with the loomis for any soft plastic and jig presentations though.

I also would like to know about the Triumph series. I did talk to a St Croix rep at a sport show and the main thing different about them is that they are not made in the US, but overseas, to compete with the lower price point Shimanos and such.
I haven't used one but if anyone has, please let us know. They feel pretty good, they are pretty light with decent action but that is just my picking one up in the store. |

well i did try hard to drown that st.crow hat.. threw lizards st crow rod a few times -with a deep diving crank on it- a tad to light in the tip for my taste for this application. would be a great soft plastics rod.
but as i told lizzy i was being polite and only hauled 4 rods. zooker

The new Triumph rods have the old SCII blanks, which the original Avid series rod had.For $60.00, thats a price most people can afford to pay .
