Yes but smallmouth are more attracted to wild colors. Try a spinnerbait with chartreuse or orange blades instead of silver blades.

Smallies sure do.

Many lakes around here you can fish with a spinnerbait or buzzbait because you know both species will hit them!

smallies usually hang out in places that are a lil different than largemouths. if there is a rocky spot in the body of water you are fishing, try that... smallies love rip rap and rocks.

Smallies liek to eat things that resemble craws or shiners, I have fished the delaware and can tell you a craw crank or a white grub will kill em!

NJ, I hope your young , because by the time your as old as I am , you may still not have the smallmouth bass figured out yet.I know I haven't, some days I can catch a 100+ smallmouth and the next I could not catch 1. Largemouth are easier to find and more consistant than smallmouth bass are. What has been reliable for me time and time again are tubes, spook jrs, Bomber deep flat A, spinnerbaits with all white or all chartreuse blades, and last but not least the Kalin grub on a 1/4 oz. leadhead, or a 5" lizard in green pumpkin or cotton candy color. I hope this helps. P N J

Up here smallmouth and largemouth will often be in the same lake.

The shallow, weedy areas of the lake are likely to hold largemouth, while the deeper, rocky points will hold the smallmouth.

Although sometimes you'd be surprised!

GYCB spider grubs are also a good bet. My best advise is to look for wing dams and small islands deep holes and eddy's these areas were best for me on the delware.
