Arrow Q2 BassFishin.Com Big Bass Forum Tournament

WELCOME TO THE
BassFishin.Com 2nd Quarter: 2006
Big Bass Forum Tournament

Member Anglers Will Try Their Luck To Catch the Biggest Largemouth or Smallmouth For the Second Quarter of 2006! All Forum Members Are Eligible To Participate and the Tournament Is FREE!

There will be a first place prize for both:
  • Biggest Largemouth Bass
  • Biggest Smallmouth Bass
Eligible Tournament Timeline For All Catches:
April 1 - June 30, 2006

First Place Prizes For Both Biggest Largemouth And Smallmouth:

www.prosoftbaitglue.com - www.fishboy.com

If you would like to add additional prizes to the pot, please contact Rebbasser or Kevin. Any prize is welcome!

All fish must be caught on a rod and reel using artificial bait. A picture will be required, and weights will be determined using the formula found here:

BassFishin.Com Forum Tournament Weight Calculator

So take a tape measure with you. Scale weights will NOT be accepted since different scales can give different weights due to different calibrations.

Big Bass Forum Tournament Rules & Suggestions:
Each member who catches a large bass for submission in the tournament, must take a picture of that bass alongside their driver's license (or fishing license or any other personal identification) to ensure the bass in the photo belongs to the member who caught it. If you do not have such ID readily available, write your username and "BassFishin.Com" on a piece of paper and use that (this is last resort). The measurements and ID of any photo submissions must be CLEARLY visible... We recommend taking multiple shots at varying distances to ensure the capture of a clear and detailed photo meeting the requirements.

How To Measure Your Catch Properly For the Tournament:
To measure the length in inches, place the bass on top of your tape measure. Close the fish's mouth completely and pinch the tail fin together like shown in the diagram below. For the girth in inches, wrap the tape measure around the stomach of the bass at the point it is most fat. Refer to the diagram below. Be sure to get clear photos of the exact measurements.

This tournament will be on the honor system, so let your conscience be your guide.

DON'T THINK YOU CAN CATCH THE BIG BASS???
We believe that no matter where you live, you have a great shot at winning this tournament. However, we understand that some parts of the country have bigger fish than others. So to add to the excitement and participation of the tournament, we will also be providing a prize (assortment of baits) to a contestant who weighed-in the largest fish from a randomly selected state other than the state(s) the first-prize fish came from! How's that for incentive!!!

The ranking members of the forums have the right to question any and all submissions in an attempt to maintain a fair competition.

A special thanks to the hard work of the many BassFishin.Com members who have made this and past forum tournaments a reality. Thanks to Rebbasser for his hard work in starting this Big Bass Tourney and thanks to JB for the great idea!

Hey Kev....

First off Thanks for doing this for us guys on the forum. This is a kick A$$ little "tourney". I hope alot of guys "weigh in" some toads.

I still have the same question regarding measuring and taking a photo with ID....how am I supposed to do that in my kickboat? I think with the pics i have put on the board that most ppl wouldnt doubt the size of my fish that I catch. But however I do want to follow the rules of the tourney. I just cant think of a way for me to measure fish when in my kick. If you have a suggestion I sure would be open to it....

I also will be willing to donate something for the winner as well. I have TONS of stuff laying round. It might not be something new, but it willbe in good condtion and will work. I have line, lures, plastics, and a couple of reels laying around. You tell me what you would like for a prize. I can make it happen. Just want to help out!

Hey Deacon... thanks for the kind words. You guys are like family and I am so happy to help put together these fun events. However, the true leaders are guys like Reb, JB, Zook (to name a few!) who have helped put these things together.

As for any fish you catch on the kickboat, I think we can work something out to accomodate you and others in similar circumstance. Do you carry a digital scale or measuring tape of any sort? Either get the fish weighed or do your best to somehow hold the measure tape with your lipping hand to at least get some "scam" as a relative determination. Obviously it won't be a clean measure, but like I said, some relative scam will help greatly. Perhaps some of the other members will have some additional good ideas.

And here is the most important thing. Take as many pictures as you can from different angles and distances. The more pictures you take, the more of a consensus that can be reached about your fish and it's weight.

But don't worry about messing up. Go out there and have fun cause that is what it's all about. We have some great guys on this forum and I don't plan on ever having any problems with trust, cheating or otherwise. A solid effort to comply with the rules is all we ask! If anyone forgets their tape measure, etc... by all means... STILL POST YOUR PICS!!!! You may or may not qualify, depending on the agreeing members, but we want you to participate no matter what! The rules are guidelines to help promote fairness, but like I said, it's an inexact science that is for fun.

Awesome Kev.....Thanks for the input. You know I think you should go ahead and hand the winnings over to me now....I have a 10lbr in my near future . I always have a scale(the new Xtools and a camera. As for a measuring tape I dont usually carry one because I dont have safe place to lay a fish out. If it will count I could lay out my Will-E-Go board to give scale....

Good Luck to everyone out there!!!!!!!!

Stop wishin and get to Fishin!!!!

deacon,
Denny_K and me have had the same problems, we hit one place with a f/n paddle boat, had lots of fish but nothing over 15 inches, but the problem we ran into was we had 10 rods and two tackleboxs in the back, plus trying to get a tape and a good measurement with a digital camera was a nightmare.
All we ask from forum members is to be honest with tourney results, taking the weight from one single 6hour tourney, instead of taking pictures of toads whenever they are caught and then saying they were from the tourney day.
Our biggest goal in all this is to give newer bass anglers some kinda of retrospect to what all goes on during the tournament, to get some kind of feel for a "real life tourney" in their area.
We respect anglers that just go out there and try to do thier best, any weight at the scales at the end of the day is a added bonus.
Good Luck to you and others in upcomming events!
Plus we would like a brief summary of conditions, weather, bass, and lure choice after the postings.

Just to note: The "Big Bass Forum Tourney" allows you to catch a big bass at any time. You do not have to designate a 6 hour fishing time period beforehand. That is for our 'regular' 5-fish limit tournaments (which we should get going as well).

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH, that's how this works. Thnks Kevin, I was wondering about that. So this is not a five fish limit tourney?

Deacon, why not put a tape measure up to you kickboat, mark it off on your boat, and then you have a tape measure( take a picture while you are marking it and post it here). Or buy one of the fish sticks(Like I use) it has a adhesive on the back, and is a tape measure. Fishing tourneys as you do, it's also a good thing when your culling LOL. Good fishing to all. But it better be GREAT fishing if you want to beat me Might even make a trip up north for some smallies, who knows I might just win both pirzes

Yes, the big bass deal is definitely just...the biggest bass you can catch while fishing between April 1 and June 30. All the other rules and regulations still apply, but it doesn't have to be done in any specific time frame or one time only.

Oh and Deacon, I would do what Lizards suggested. That or, go to Wal-Mart or a craft store and buy a fabric measuring tape (its what I now use), then somehow attach it to your will-e-go board.

Believe me guys if the was a effective way for me to put a tape on my boat I would have by now. I cant put on the nose of my boat cause if I lean forward to lay it down and photograph I would fall in. Im not willing to lay my drivers license on my boat and lose that to. Leaves me with the will-e-go...Same thing is I dont have the space to lay it out. I also cant lay it out, put fish on it and take picture effectivly with out some thing going in the water.I would hope a big fish would dwarf my will-e-go so that is kinda a mute point. Imagine a 7-9lbers laying on a will-e. I dunno guys I really want to participate but Im not sure if I can given circumstances. I know I have fish that could give others a run for their money....I wouldnt want to submit a entry and have someone say I didnt follow the rules....

Also aanother question that I was wondering...How many times can you submit...If I catch a 7 on monday and on saturday I catch a 8 can I submit 2 times? Or is a 1 time shot?

since its just the biggest fish....it doesn't matter how many times. You're just fishing and if you catch a big one..one you think is worthy of entering, enter it into the contest. There's gotta be some way we can get you into the contests, though.

Hope you submit 8 or 9 times, so I have something to shoot for Just wondering how you are going to measure it at all, or are you just planning on using the scale? How about just putting a yard stick in the rod holder? Post your pics as you see fit, if it's a winner, the folks here would take all your difficutlites into account I'm sure. Everyone already knows what you look like, so don't have any face lifts and I would think the ID is a mute point. How do you take your fish to the weigh in for the tourneys you fish? Is there any reason you couldn't take it to shore to measure? Just some ideas, only you know if they will work or not. As I said post the pics, the rules guys(not me) will give you a fair shake.

Awwwww Thanks Zook. Location helps but what it boils down to is skill of the angler....

I in a tourney I use a livewell(coverted cooler) and bilge pump. I dont like useing it for normal everyday fishing because it is big and when filled with water weighs a ton which makes it harder for me to manuever. I could use the measurin tape idea but in order for that to happen i would have to beach my self and do it on land. Some places i fish dont have alot of bank access(steep banks, tules/bullrush, heavy brush/timber). I am going to submit photos and I hope that you guys can trust my word on weight. Im not here to win(would be cool) but not why Im doing it. I want to have the competition. I want some of the younger guys/girls gettin into the sport to see what is possible.....

I hope you guys take me at face value.....

Hey Lizard....Let the games begin

I must say the Hawg's are a lot easier to catch in Florida compared to Indiana

Lizards, as kevin mentioned, you can click on any image and get a new window that will show a larger version.
For others, if you want to resize any picture and do much more editing, download a simple and easy tool from
