They do. Â*Electric reels are used a lot in salt water. They are also used by disabled anglers who can't use a conventional rod and reel.

Ya saltwater bottom fishermen use them all the time so they dont have to reel in 150 feet of line to rebait there hooks with a 3:1 ratio reel.

i have an old automatic fly reel laying around here someplace packed in a box.pretty interesting how it works.i never used it though,got it at an auction years ago.

I still use my automatic flyreel once every blue moon. Its a nice deal for bluegill.
