I know the 1/4 ounce ratLtrap is what lots of guys throw, but does anyone throw the smaller 1/8th? I am wondering if the pan fish hit it, or does it come in handy during a severe cold front?

Haven't thrown one, JB, but it sure makes sense-especially post frontal.

Yes, panfish will hit a small Trap, but they will also hit a wide variety of small crankbaits.

Just wondering if anyone went that small, I usually rely on the small size crawdad bomber crank bait for most of the rip rap and always on
cold front, it backs up fast ![]() |

I don't use the 1/8 oz traps cause the hooks are too small. However, Norman makes a small crankbait that comes with size 4 hooks. This is a very good bait in the glitter-pearl color.
Oh, and speaking of the smaller traps, I was throwing one this weekend . . for trout. I didn't catch any trout on it but sure got a nice long cast with it on my line. |

I stick to the 1/8 once trap, and I've caught plenty of big bass on it, lately I have been hitting up a little park lake near the house and I've been catchin trout like it's no bodies buisness...I love it

RatlTrapper, do you use the 1/8 oz size to catch trout? If so, what color?

Yes, the 1/8 oz Chrome w/ Black top is what I have been using also the Chrome W/ Blue top works great. The lake I have been fishing at was just stocked with about 2,500 trout so they are real aggresive and they have been hitting them hard, most of the chrome off of mine has been knocked off and I have only fished 3 days with it and not been hung up once. I have also caught some nice size largemouth with it to, so there are days that's the only lure i take with me and it catches everything i want it to and more. This morning I caught 10 trout.
