All three methods are very close in presentation and feel for when you get a bite, I tend to use the carolina rig during mid summer, but texas rig or jig fish about all year.
I tend to texas rig a plastic for general cover, weeds, etc, anduse the jig for heavier cover, where a bullet sinker may not penetrate, I'll go heavier with a jig or tube |

Best tip I can give ya buddy is fish it every chance you get. Years ago I had caught a few bass on a PNJ and never really gained the confidence I needed to use it. Finally made up my mind that I was gonna learn as much as possible about the pnj. For almost a year I carried 2 rods in the boat and 2 brown bags for a tacke bag. 1 bag contained various jigs and the other carried several jars of pork and some plastic trailers. To say the least it was hard at first knowing the bass where on a spinnerbait bite or a crank bite or whatever. But to this day after that grueling year I can honestly say that if I pick up the jig rod I WILL catch at least one fish and most likely will be a good one. Fish it. You cant hardly go wrong.
By the way welcome aboard.

Welcome to the forum!
For a jig-n-pig I love to throw them around flooded timber. I throw them braid-50 lb Powerpro-which has the same diameter as 12 lb mono. I like to throw it across a flooded treetop and work it back through the branches. Worming: A Texas rig or T-rig is good for fishing a specific piece of cover due to it's vertical presentation. A Carolina rig or C-rig is a good search bait due to it's horizontal presentation. Good for covering a lot of water quickly. Wacky rig-GREAT fish catcher-if you are fishing in cover a weedless hook is a good idea, otherwise just cast it out, let it sink, and give it an occasional twitch. Like Laser said, just fish as much and often as you can.
