ok,my friend just bought a new qauntum accurist cx500 gold and it is very nice. i want to get an extreme and was wondering which is better? i dont know alot of people that have the 2006 model extreme, they all have the '05 models. the other thing is, the extreme can be bought with the extreme rod and bps stopped carrying the cheaper accurrist combo. so in the long run,it would probably be cheaper to by the extreme combo than to buy the accurist and another rod. thanks!

The Extreme is much smoother. I bought an Accurist 500PT one time and took it back because it is not near as smooth as the Extreme.

The bait monkey tackled me at Wal-Mart the other day and dragged me over to the tackle section, where he made me buy 2 Quantum Accurist 500cx reels and two rods to go with them. God he pi#$e$ me off, but I do have to more weapons,(laughing uncontrollably and praising the bait monkey at the same time). Oh, by the way, I love the Accurist reels, I'm trying to replace all of the older reels I have, only a few more to go.

Skeeter I picked up a 6'6" Quantum Tourney heavy, and a 6'6" Fenwick med. I picked up the medium to change from spinning to casting for my drop-shot to see if it makes a difference and I picked up the heavy to throw smaller swimbaits (up to 1 1/2 ounces).

laser, not all stainless is non magnetic, although I understand that you were mislead on wallyworlds bait n switch advertising...
Acutally , stainless steel is available in a magnetic form, its alloy is called #430, where as the stainless that is non magnetic is #303 and #304. It all welds dif. too...there is also a stainless that is water corrisive the the industry calls #316...we purchase all alloys of stainless rods, sheets, and coils at work, however I doubt if they went to enough trouble to make #430 bearings for your reel, you probably did get ripped off |
