Default PNJ-Canandaigua

Was there Wednesday, north end, probably never more than one mile south of the city pier. We caught about 75 assorted panfish, but only one smallie. Water was in the 62-64* range.

Marty, You must have launched at the state park ? On the right hand side of the lake coming out of the state launch, in 20 feet of water there is a hump that comes up to 4 feet below the surface.About 60 feet in diameter. That would be a good place to find the bass. I wish I would have known, I didn't work this week, but before the summer is out, we will get together to fish. P N J

Yes Ivan, we launched from the park. I am unaware of that hump and haven't fished the north end but a few times. Where is that hump relative to Squaw Island?

Marty, Its to the left and further out on the flat from Squaw island.I would have to see the landmarks and triangulate them to find it.Above the swim area by the Gorham water plant is another excellent spot for catching a limit in a hurry. The key to catching bass on Canandaigua lake is to fish the upper water colum presentations over the weedy flats, rather than downsize, or use a bottom lure presentation.I cannot explain it, I always say the bass think they are trout in that lake.Chartreuse bladed/skirted spinnerbaits burned over the weedy flats have won more tournaments on that lake than any other lure to my knowledge.
