pond gunk, need help

hey guys. im wonderning if this affects my fishing. the pond i fish has tons of goopy stuff. its like a stringy, green, slimy mess. every time i reel in, there are clumps of it on my bait and i have to take it off. it looks like thick locks of hair, that is green and well, just dirty. it gets stuck no the line tie, hooks... anywhere somethign sticks out. any help with this??

Use an old tooth brush to remove it when needed.

fish a weedless frog or worm, pond slime is a way of life for all of us, ya just have to pick it off you eyelets and line and hook/lure when needed.
Avoid crankbaits and other exposed hook setups/lures, and you'll be ok, theres bass in there somewhere.

The ponds i fish at are covered in that slop... Find a spot with holes in the slop, drag a weedless-rigged Zoom trick worm over the holes and let it sit there...I caught my biggest bass that way out of a pond.

Ah, that wonderful stuff known locally as snot moss . Weedless and weightless-about the only way to fish it. Frogs, tiki Sticks, anything you can rig weedless and weightless. Drag it across the top and let it settle in the open areas.

Cranky-the difference between a Texas rig and a weightless rig is the sinker-at least the way I rig it. Just go without the sinker so it will run across the surface and let it slowly sink in the open areas. You'll still pick up some moss but not like you would with a sinker.

i tried a scumfrog out today over the moss and it barely got anything on it so i'd say try one of those out too.

Be it scum frog or a toad USE THEM. Actually you would want to try the bait made by scum frog called a bassrat. Scumfrog is a relative term for the plastic frogs alot of us fish. The bassrat does a superior job to the frog in catching fish. A little tip for folks that dont use them much. Get the green bassrat and change the skirt from the char/white and put a yellow/black one on. Much better success.

im not a big fan of fishing at those kind of ponds. but they do somtimes produce big bass. there are ways of getting ride of this weed but if u dont own the pond then u pry shouldnt do anything with it.

See and find out if this pond has any carp in it. Carp will eat this stuff. Got a friend who stocks sterilized carp in his pond about every thirty years (the life span). While his pond has no grass due to the carp, his game fish are lively and big.
These carp grow to appx. 3 ft.

Just the other day I was at a pond neay my house and saw a nice size carp swimming in the shallows, but 85% of the pond is covered with moss. I don't know why but I haven't been able to get anything with the scum frog.

well there is lots of grass in here. atleast from what i can see. ill show you the pics when mom picks them up

if you want to fish something with exposed hooks put a salmon egg on the end of each hook or if you need to use two

Well if the grass and slime is so thick a ribbit might not work but i would use a green with a green and white or green and black skurt.
