Default Go-to bait

Replying to Mitcher's post I mentioned go-to bait and we haven't had one of these threads in a while so just for grins what is your go-to bait?

Mine is a Yum Dinger or Tiki Stick with a Bandit 100 series crankbait a close second.

I'm gonna get laughed off the board for this buts it's true. Storm rattlin chug bug. I sometimes bring a small square of cardboard with me to put on the water so I can let the chug bug break dance.

When I'm stymied, I GO TO the car, get in, GO TO the store, GO TO the seafood dept.
Otherwise, I usually toss a wacky-rigged 4" Tiki. (Or, a Tiki-rigged 4" wacky. I can never remember how that goes.)

a 3.5 inch YUM rattle craw on a stand up jig head. This is what has been working best for the last 3 months for me. Otherwise its floating a worm.

any senko style bait has it's own magic.do not overwork them!!!they wiggle as they sink.wacky rig wiggles more than t rig.let it sink to the bottom and pop it back up and let it sink again.deadsticking also works.fish it like you would fish a live worm.

Well I have been keeping this under wraps. Only two other people from the site know and have been fishing the prototype lure. Ill Bassin & Lizardsrule. Its the Whiz Bang egotist lure from the elite series line coming out in 2007.I know its a strange name, but it does work. The color I got sent was lemon meringue aurora ? Don't know what the name means, but its basically a white hologram body with a yellow chartruese back. P N J

That I can verify. I never used a 4" Tiki until I started fishing with Flyrod.

M cress, that Rattlin' Chug Bug is a good topwater bait.

Rebbasser, Anit no one told me not to advertise it, or post it for that matter. Here is a picture of it. It anit great looking, much like a Heddon torpedo, but this thing has got a rattling sound as well with the prop noise. Its heavier than a torpedo, can throw it all day long with a baitcast without backlashing and yet it sits on top of the water tail down until you put it in motion. They are going to be introduced as a budget series bait, Whiz Bang company is going to target the blue collar fishermen, cost will be under $4.00 a lure, which the majority of cost is in the hardware, Gamakatsu hooks so you don't have to change them out from the cheap hooks you normally get on budget priced lures.Of course they will have a upper end series called the grandeur series. They will have custom finishes and premium detailed for a higher price. Here's the prototype I got. It was in better shape when it arrived to me, the fish tore it up. P N J

Flukes are probably my all time Go-To Bait. But I just don't like giving up on anything I believe is gonna work. You know I fish lot's of different baits, but Flukes will catch a fish when nothing else will. However the WHIZ BANG is producing pretty good right now, just hard to get them, and harder to keep them. Bass just tear em up, and always want to take it home with them.

Superfluke or senko, ALmost always end up fishing one of the two when I go out, and they never let me down. I'll typically start off w/ a 7in worm, spinnerbait, or jerkbait. Still working on the whole jig and crank thing.

I can't pass up throwing the YUM Houdini Shad, silver fleck/blue. It's a fluke for all those who haven't seen one. Almost always get a bite on those things.
