I will be travelling from FLorida and my brother will be coming from Ohio. We would like to meet up at a nice campground and fish. A boat ramp is a must but boat docks would be nice. We are looking for mid august.
Any suggestions are appreciated. |

Internet searches dont offer someones real experiences. I want some opinions, I dont want to make a guess of what might be nice.
Any area or any lake. We are not familair with any specific area. We are looking for somewhere we can meet up and enjoy a nice vacation. Something in Tennessee or Kentucky. Thanks! |

Here are some on Kentucky Lake from Tennessee all the way to near the Ohio River.I feel this is the best fishing lake in the state at that time of year. I have stayed at Hillman Ferry, Birdsong Resort and Marina, And Buchanon Resort, and they are all top notch.I could recommend some others around Tenn, but the fishing won't be as good.
http://www.lbl.org/CAMPHillman.html This on is in Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area. And Absolutly beautiful area. I have stayed at this one and it is nice. http://www.birdsongresort.com Not far from me, and a very nice resort area. Good campgrounds. http://www.buchananresort.com Also not far from me. Check out thier accomodations/lodging page for campground info. http://mansardisland.com You will have to contoact them for camping info, but they do have a campground. Also, this site has not been updated since our liscenses went up, so the rates listed may not be accurate. http://www.explorekentuckylake.com/k...ampgrounds.htm Last edited by Tnbasser; 07-02-06 at 08:52 PM. |

I agree with bassboss. Kentucky and Barkley Lakes are great! My family and I camp at Jonathan Creek on Kentucky lake. We stay at Sportsman's Anchor Resort. If you have a camper, they have real nice spots that have power, water and septic (spot #62 is the biggest). They also have little cottages to stay in. I have never been in one. They have a full service marina and the ramp is nice!
