Welcome to the forum!
Always glad to see another Texan join the board. This time of the year to fish a pond the first thing I reach for is a soft plastic stickbait like a Tiki Stick or Yum Dinger. You can use it in and around the weeds, open water, any part you want to fish. I rig them weightless and weedless or wacky, cast them out, let them settle and work them with gently twitches of the rod tip.
