Cool. I was actually fishing once down there and looked up to the east and saw the shuttle launch. I was impressed I could see it where I was, but the contrail turned a bright orange color because it was getting close to sunset.
BTW, do they ever launch rockets out of there? I saw something during my trip that launched from the same area, it had by far too sharp of an arc to have been a plane.....

Yeah, rockets are launched pretty regularly from there. Im not sure if cool is a proper term for this though. This launch in particular holds the future of the space program in it's trembling hand right now. I pray that the shuttle returns w/o a hitch and they have no problems while in space. The economic impact of this space flight could affect the entire country. Most of all it could be devastating to the whole Cent Florida area immediately if something does go wrong. Very historic day, not only the launch, but the day it was launched.

I know what you mean FLfireman. My uncle is in the process of moving down from Wisconsin and he is a computer guy of some sort working on the coast (won't tell us what, dunno if its classified or not) and yes it would be devastating to all of Central Florida and even my school (aerospace magnet school).

Cool indeed. I remember the first launch, had to watch it and do a report on it in 4th or 5th grade. It still get a bit excited to watch a launch. I've never made it down there to watch in person though. If they find bass in space though, I'm signing up to go!

I was in Orlando and could see it from our resort. Pretty cool to say the least. At 7,000 mph, one minute it's there, then it's gone!
