You're a few months behind on this one. The fish was foul-hooked and there was no official there to verify the weight, so it might be the record, but not officially.

Yeah, thats true, and they say that his scale was off, but I don't know about that. They are still considering it for the world record, because the rule book states that a foul hooked fish counts, as long as it wasn't intentionally foul hooked.

But California law says it is illegal to keep a foul hooked fish so it is a moot point. No record. Officially, anyway.

I lived at the bottom of the hill from Dixon for 6 years, there is always an official there from the state DFG, always!! The scale they have is official and accurate. He made the choice not to pursure the world record, because he foul-hooked it and that he didn't want to kill the fish. I have talked to several guys from out there that and we all know each other. I think he did the right thing.

i gotta agree.i did hear that he didnt want to break the record with a foul-hooked fish.

I agree, and I respect the man. I heard he thinks it was the same fish he caught before, because of certainm markings. The time he caught it previously, it weighed around 21 pounds.
