What you learn from fishing for bass works for flounder. Carolina rigs and flounder rigs are very close in design. Fishing them is almost identical.

I threw up one example but with this crowd I am sure there are many more. Can you guys give me examples how fishing for bass works for ______ fish. Please give style and fish in your answer....

Flipping worms works for warmouth. It shouldn't but it does for me.

Speckled trout will also hit jerkbaits and fly poppers I've found.

jerk baits work fine on bass and many a walleye has fallen for them too around rip rap

Funny..I was fishing Sunday, with a chartreuse Bandit crankbait.
I tied into a big one! Got it to the shore and it was a 4-6 lb channel
cat..It put up a good fight.

I forgot to mention the bowfin's affinity for the spinnerbait. I could probably catch 20 a day easy ranging from 5-15 pounds in florida on spinnerbaits, as long as I could afford to replace the spinnerbait after each fish chewed one up. Bowfin are a destructive species.

Being a VA boy I would have thought you knew what a freshwater drum is. There is an other name for them.. Grinell grunnell grinnman or some thing like that..

I found white tubes work great for grey trout.

I found bass assasins work great for Stripers (rockfish)

I found sassy shad are great swim baits

I found pet spoons are great for lgmouth

I found that silver buddy will catch any fish you want....

Texas rigged worms work finicky nearshore snapper.
Spinnerbaiits work for redfish.
Flipping docks with a jig (only without a skirt and dressed up with a shrimp) on braided line will catch BIg snook and nice reds.
Poppers catch any inshore predatory fish you can think of.
Shiner style fishing catches everything in salt water.

Captmike, I have actually never caught a bowfin, but have seen them caught,and around here they are called freshwater drum, didn't know the two were the same. And whats a pet spoon, and a silver buddy?

Bowfin in VA can be found on Chickahominy Lake and River and also on the James River and probably many other small ponds and lakes.

Many topwater bass baits work well for bluefish and striper. I've caught blues on the Potomac river on buzzbaits and floating worms.

Odd aint it that a bowfin can be a different fish in the northern and southern states. But still undesireable by both sections of the country.

I argued the same point back in the 70's when I fished Red Man series. Nobody listened as they where allways drunk.. me included.

Bowfin down here in Central Florida seem to like anything that's white or shiny, and fast moving. I've caught several on white Zoom toads and white/blue spinners. One thing though...Bowfin have strong jaws and sharp teeth...don't use your good spinners...I use Wal-mart $1.99 specials.

BOWFIN/MUDFISH, whatever you want to call them will eat "ANYTHING". They like anything that moves, and are more agrgessive at hitting quicker, than a Bass. However they tend to play with the bait, and CHEW on it. So anything you want to throw, those stinking mudfish will hit it. I've noticed lots of in-line spinners work well for lots of fish. Northern Pike are pretty good at hammering them, as well as Bass/Lots of other stuff. Rodman Rod will attest to the fact that many Salt Water baits work well in freshwater, and vice versa. Too many to name them all, but spoons will catch most everything also. And don't forget those stinking Gar, will chew on anything that looks like a baitfish.
