I went gander mtn. today and picked up a chatterbait to try at one of my favorite fishing areas. When I was there it seemed like they were hiding them, I found them behind the counter with a sign that said two per customer. Apparently these things are in high demand. Anyways my question is how do you fish this thing, from what I have found it appears that you fish this with a constant retrieve but make the bait move irratically

the trailer is not necessary to catch fish, but sometimes it can help. I fish chatterbaits in the same manner as I do pretty much everything else....that way is "whatever works". I don't believe theres one way to fish this or that or anything else...you gotta try a bunch of different things and who knows, ya may end up with your own personal technique that not another person uses.
For starters, try using a moderate pace, but keep it up near the surface of the water(that means pretty much start reeling before it hits water or reel really fast for the first second its in the water to get it up top). Don't forget you can take the skirt off and fish soft plastics like flukes and lizards on it. |

I usually fish it with a slow moderate retrieve. Works great for me. I haven't tried it with a fast retrieve or kept it near the surface yet, but I'm sure that works too. Good Luck !

i fish mine about 200 ways, well thats an exageration.. but i fish it on the bottom, mid range, top, pump it, jig it, drop it off ledges, brushpiles etc etc etc. they work... of course i make my own so I can save some money on em. the sticker price in the store is amazing

I just got mine, But ive been fishing it like a spinner bait, about a slow-medium retrive maybe a few snaps everyonce in a while.
I guy at the gander mountian near me told me in January you could buy chatterbaits on ebay for $75. That maybe while you could only buy two.Just a guess
