Topwater Trailer

Has anyone ever tried a topwater trailer ? I made a 2 foot leader from 10# stren and put a snap swivel on one end to connect to my jitterbug , I am thinking about a 6" floating worm with a 2/0 hook. I am thinking maybe the jitterbugs splash and noise will get the bass's attention and then they'll strike on the worm ? has anyone ever tried something like this ? Fishing has been SLOW here since a cool down moved threw...

Fly fisherman use this kind of rig, tying a wet flie, behind a popper bug, and it works for them, so it might work.

You can tie a litttle jig on the rear treble, it works for schoolies.

you could just put a a small split ring on a small barrel swivel,take the rear treble hook off,and attach the swivel to the back of the lure, tie a 2'-3' leader of mono ,and use a worm hook,and pretty much any kind of worm will work. you should try a ribbontail worm in like black,so it is easier to see for the bass. i should try this!

you know bass.......some days they'll hit it.......some days they won't. I'm sure there's day's where they'd hit the jitterbug, some days where they hit the trailing worm, some days you get a fish on each one.......at the same time.......and some days where you won't get a strike. I say try it. Another similar setup (kinda) is combining a jig and a dropshot. To do it, tie on a typical dropshot rig, but instead of using a normal lead weight at the bottom, tie on a jig. Tight lines fellas, tight lines.

I just got back from our small city lake , I did try something like this and it did work. I took a brown tiki stik weighted on first , then connected my leader with a snap swivel to the hook eye , the leader had a strike king floating worm ( black ) I cought 5 bass , 4 on the first worm ( tiki ) and the other one on the ribbon tail. It actually helped me decide what to throw and at what depth , so it is at least useful..

They used to make an item with a small treble hook that was just for the application that your refering to. Had line ties on both sides.
You put it on the line either before or after the main bait.
Somebody help me remember the name of this item.

I have succees with this rig. I use it when bass are missing a topwater frog. I tie a 2ft or so leader with a little grub on the end. If the bass miss the frog they usually get the grub
