Default This was a first

I got a fishn trip in today before I work the weekend. A beautiful day but the catching was slow. I came about a 3ft. snake sunbathing on a rock. I fished all around him and he never budged. So I decided to have a little fun and try and hit him with my plastic worm. I missed him but it landed very near his head at which time he struck and grabbed a hold of my worm. I tried to jerk the worm away but all I did then was set the hook. He tugged and I tugged for a few min. I then was angry and jerked him up over the rock and he landed about half way to the boat. Still flopping around I decided that was all I wanted of Mr. Snake. So I cut the line. It wasn't the smartest thing in the world to do but makes for a good story.

Snakes will chase your baits, especially LIZARDS Just leave them alone if they are leaving you alone. Otherwise, a dead snake is better than a mad or biting snake

Naw, snakes are meant to be played with if they ain't poisonus, left alone if they're sittin quietly in a rural area, and shot through the head if they're poisonus and aggresive or near kids or dogs.

Another case of of unwarranted cruelty to a (probably) beneficial animal.
That snake, who, in any event was just minding his own business (I wish you had,) and posed no threat, will almost certainly die from starvation or infection.
I hope you feel great! You did such a MANLY thing.

Let the "Only good snake is a dead snake!" crap begin.

Snakes are nasty man, and im sure if he wasnt out on a boat, and on those rocks, it would have tried attacking him.

I was throwing a buzzbait once along some rocks, and out of nowhere a snake shoots out from under the rocks, and just nailed my buzzbait, luckily I didn't hook him.

Ever had one of these b-tards sneak up on you while night fishing? And no its not a beaver-its a Nutria and the growl will make you piss yourself. The cottonmouths keep them away down here. I will not kill one unless its on the porch-Im in his territory and I should respect him, when He comes int mine he'll do the same or die. I like to think Im in touch with the animals wich is why I c&r, only shoot old bucks and does and respect reptiles. Ted Nugent says it best-"you killed that animal and he died-show him a little respect and eat him"

Flyrod, I already admitted it was a stupid thing to do. But get a life and save the lecture. The snake population in KY Lake will be fine.

I applaud you flyrod, I feel the same way. But you know what I hate more is when people kill the mudfish just because they hate catching them when we are the ones in their home!

The local snake population won't suffer because of UK's idea of playing with the snake like that. He already admitted that it wasn't a good idea and I don't see him doing that again. The lecture needs to stop. Your beating a dead horse. Well, that's a saying that will probably make someone mad. Oh well.

Enjoy the cooler fishing weather. I plan on it!
