Default Braided Line

I just spooled up 100 yards of powerpro 30 lb test line and casted it. It casts very far, but it makes that noise because it is braided line. It kind of scares me and makes me want to take it off, because I feel like it's gonna wear down my poll or something?
Will it? Can I keep it on with my setup?

Julien

Thanks.

In the past there was concern, but with the improvements in both braid and line guides there is nothing to be concerned with now. You'll be fine. The noise does take a little getting used to, though.

when you set the hook on a huge fish in heavy cover the noise that 65 lb braid makes is music, not annoying

I buy my calcutta stuff at Ace Hardware. I might try their braid soon, as its not as pricey as what I'm using.
