Well, the weather has been back to warm and hot. The fishing has been the same. The only problem is it is hot one day and the next day the fish want bite. I had one trip this week and we struggled on a half a day trip and then the next day they were all over the place. We caught them on Pop’r top water baits, Wacky Worm Lake Fork Tackle Twitch worms and Zig Zags, Wave Tiki Sticks fished weightless, spinner baits, and Lipless crank baits. Grass was the key ingredient‘s. No Grass No Bass. BUT. The same place the next day nothing. This was a weird week. We did have two fronts come in and this may has been the problem. The other thing one day they bit in the morning then the next they bit in the afternoon. Best advice is to be out there every chance you can. Maybe the next cool front may get the equation back on track. I worked the creek channel on a flat one day where the water was six foot deep at the deepest and the surrounding water was 2 to 3 foot. The grass was about a foot under the water.
I still feel you can throw about anything and catch fish right now if your in the right area. But Change if it isn’t working. This about the same report as the past weeks and it will be just as short. The crappie are showing up at the bridges and the size is getting better. One day plenty of keepers and the next day just throw backs. Jigs and minnows down to 18 to 25 foot is the best depth. The Brush and timber are another area to look for the crappie. I have October dates open if you want to book a trip give me a call. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088 |
