Default Dragon Report

Had a writer from VA wildlife mag / Field and stream on my jet boat this Sunday for a trip up the Dragon Run Swamp. Ladden with cameras and note pads we managed about 24 topwater bass on Pop-R's and another 8 on ring worms and wackos. I was so busy with the posing and smiling I only got one shot.

Capt Mike, got a question for ya. My new fishing buddy here in FL is from Jersey and we were talking about the Potomac. I believe it was you that said it was clear due to the Hydrilla, he claims it aint clear. He has been down here for about 2 years, is it clear, and if so how clear? Clear to me is about 7-10' visibility, then theres some lakes that are superclear rotfl. To zooker clear is about 1-2' rotflmao.

Default Relavent measure

When you can see 6 ft down to the bottom, that to me is clear. But the Potomac has a mighty flow on the main river and more than not it is muddy and green with lots of nutrients. (poop)

But I mostly fish the backwaters where the swamps feed in to major creeks and that area is clear to me.

The main river has so much traffic on weekends it never gets a chance to clear up. But during the week in the huge grass beds it clears up really nice on the main river.

Capt - I've been off line for a while but I'm back again. How's the river???? I've been on Anna for the past two weeks getting ready for the upcoming Regional. Lake is doing well. Caught 20+ last weekend with a majority of them being under 12" but had a respectable limit just over 10 lbs.

I really do not know. I have been chasing the 70 lb blue cat record for the last two weeks. I have packed all my bass fishing 28 rods and three tackle boxes away for the season. I had to pull out my cat , salt and surf stuff now. 19 rods and three more tackle boxes are now in the boat, truck and surf rack. Change of seasons for me..
