I'd go with mono, mainly because I've never tried fluoro. Simpler is better sometimes. In general, you want lighter line with cranks than with spinners, so split the difference. Maybe 15#, or 12# at the lightest.

It would depend on what your rod power is, if its MHeavy of Heavy I would use mono, Medium; I would use flouro, thats just my 2 cents anyways.

I never use flouro for anything but as a leader where the fish might be line-shy. Too brittle, stiff and unnecessary to fill the whole reel with. It also sinks, so it is useless for topwaters.
I use braid for use around structure, mono in open water. Braid is no more expensive in the long run...lasts a looong time, then you reverse it on the reel and use it a looong time more. Power Pro is probably the most reasonably priced, but I really like the Sufix braid. |

Braid may be more expensive in the beginning, but in the long, it is about the same or maybe cheaper than mono and fluoro.
If you use a spool of mono each year to fill say two reels, and the spools cost $7-8 each, after four years, you will have spent $28-32. About the same for what you'd spend on a spool of braid, depending on brand. And the braid, if it isn't used up, should last you four years (two years from each end) BB

Cranks - 12-14lb line, a med light action spinnerbaits - med or med heavy rod, 15 - 20lb line jigs - med heavy or heavy 20 lb flouro or 50-80lb braid You can probably use the same rod for the jigs and spinners if you get a med/heavy action. If you think this will all burn a hole though you wallet don't worry. Get 2 berkly lighting rods for the spinner baits and cranks, about 40 -50 $ Get a 1 more sensitive rod for the jigs. 75-150 + $ About the line, just get 3 different spools, with different line. Use 20-30 braid or 12 - 17lb flouro Quote:

I would bit the bullet and get it dude, well worth it and last up to 5 years.
mono really will keep it's lb test after 1 year. That's 5yrs of not buying mono!

I was a bit hesitant about buying braid to begin with, but eventually my want to try it overruled my want not to spend money on it. (darn baitmonkey)...
I love fishing with braid. I recently bought some 10lb for a spinning set up and love it so far. Definately get some braid, and power pro isn't that expensive of a braid. Power pro is good, but I prefer Sufix Performace Braid. BB

The reason why a med light action rod is preferable for cranks is because you get a better hook set because the bass has some time to get the bait it in it's mouth. With a heavier action rod you would just pull the bait out of it's mouth. This this lighter rod, it was more bend so it will not pull it out of it's mouth.
See what um sayin'?

You can still use a Medium or Medium Heavy or Heavy action as long it has soft tip or parabolic action. |

Not a line I would recommend. The worse I've ever tried, IMO. |

Because it is. Based on my experience with the line. Constant twisted like 8 times a day on first try. Stripped it off. Whatever works for ya.
